Making the Salon Cushions

Since Jon has inspired me so much .... I decided that I should make the cushions for the V-Berth (where we'll sleep) and the Booth in the Salon (which can be made into a bed that sleeps two).  Since I haven't sewn since Jr. High School I wasn't sure just how much I remembered; but, I knew it would save us $3000.00 so it couldn't hurt to try!  Soooo...we bought a sewing machine, the memory foam and the fabric and away I went!  Here is my progress .......


This is one piece of the memory foam .....

We measured the V-Berth and Booth area and Jon cut out the pieces .....

I lined each piece using bed sheet fabric .....

After everything was lined,  I measured and cut (with Jon's help) the fabric for each piece .... here is one piece completed, and the rest have the fabric cut and are ready to be sewn .....

All the pieces are completed now ..... except for a few finishing touches ...

Here is how the Booth Section will look .... the pieces in the background are for the V-Berth ..... Jon is painting the inside Salon area of the boat now .....  as soon as that is complete we'll take photos of everything put together!

New Changes in July

First I just want to say that Jon is amazing....he was meant to refurbish boats.....he's just brilliant!!!!

Jon's installed the Rails to the Flydeck and Main deck......we've attached the Bimini Top.....we've re-arranged the Flydeck furniture.....Jon's added the back door and window to the Main deck and attached the windows to the Flybridge.

(You'll notice there is a tarp over the front windows....this is because the sun is so hot you could fry an egg on the windows right now.  Even with the air running inside....those windows let in a lot of heat....Jon will come up with something clever to fix that little issue!!)

We still need to install the control panel and the Black Canvas around the Flydeck Railing.  The Hull paint just arrived so as soon as we have a few days without a chance of rain then we'll Roll and Tip the Hull (we decided on a pastel yellow for the hull with black trim and black bottom paint.

We're working on the inside now......stay tuned for more photos......

Remodeling the Flydeck

This is how it started......



Jon has one of two looks now........I can't decide which one I like the best!  ha!ha!

  



                      

I can't tell you how much fun we had fiberglassing and gel coating....HA!

                                                   

We didn't think we could do it justice......but we're so happy with our Awl-Grip and Non-Skid job.......



Now to arrange the furniture.....all we need is a cocktail!!!!

Remodeling the Outside Salon

Here is what the salon area started out like......

                                     

Jon started out removing the back wall completely (it was totally rotted) and rebuilding with plywood....

He ran into quite a bit of rot on the starboard salon area.....the port side wasn't too bad.....



Jon came up with, what we now call "oatmeal"....which consists of Epoxy Resin infused with fine Sawdust....worked like a charm....... 

                                              

After sanding & sanding  (Jon's favorite thing to do now...ha!ha!) and applying Epoxy glue, we covered everything with PVC board....

                                        

Then we painted 545 Primer over the PVC board and the Hull...... 

  

After taping off the area we were going to non-skid....we rolled & tipped Awl-grip......there is definitely a technique to this...

                                       

                        





When the Awl-grip was dry we re-tapped....applied gelcoat....sprinkled with non-skid....applied Awl-grip....

Added the railing and presto!!

              



Now on to the next project......
